Christmas Angel Program

Christmas Giving Tree and Be An Angel

Each year Human Resources designates several local charities who are assisted through our Giving Tree program.  Ornaments from the tree designate the charity and a type of gift that can be brought new and unwrapped to the rectory.  Donations are made in the name of our parish family.

Our Angel program enables those who wish to help a specific person at Christmas time find a person in need (usually a child or teen) shop, wrap and deliver a gift that goes only to that designated person.

Parishioners who wish to “Be an Angel” receive the name of a  local family or child in need from the Human Services office and also receive specific information about clothing, toys or other gifts that can make life more enjoyable.  These gifts should be labeled with the individual’s name and gift wrapped and brought to the rectory for distribution.  Ordinarily, these gifts are picked up before Christmas so that they can be placed under the family tree.

Contact the Rectory at (718) 268-6143 for more information.

Update:  November 2014

Our Giving Tree and ornaments will be in place in the Church vestibule next weekend for the first Sunday of Advent. This year we will be collecting gifts for Catholic Charities, Hour Children and our own homebound parishioners. A flyer detailing gift suggestions will be in next week’s bulletin. Please hang an ornament on the tree and drop off your gift for the charity noted on your ornament at the Convent no later than December 14. Your thoughtfulness always makes Christmas bright for many less fortunate than ourselves. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Each year, we have some local families who come to us requesting our help in providing Christmas gifts for their children. We try to support these families by providing new gifts of toys and clothing for the parents to place under the tree for their children. If you would like to “adopt” and assist one of these needy families through our “Be An Angel” program, please contact Sue Karcher at 718-261-6285 for further details.
